Tayfun Bayazit appointed as Chairman and Senior Advisor of MB Advisory - Turkish subsidiary of Mediobanca SpA

  • Istanbul office continues to strengthen with specialization in M&A advisory and corporate finance
  • Mediobanca has had footprint in Turkey since July 2013, with Sinan Ozman in charge of operations

As part of Mediobanca’s wider plans to strengthen its international franchise, confirmed by its recent 2014-16 strategic plan, expansion of the Bank’s activities in Turkey and neighbouring countries is being stepped up, with an increasing focus on advisory and corporate finance services.

Tayfun Bayazit is joining MB Advisory, recently established Turkish subsidiary of Mediobanca SpA, as Non-Executive Chairman and Senior Advisor to work with the Group in its strategic development in the region.

Tayfun Bayazit, aged 56, has over thirty years of experience in the banking sector. Having started his career in Citibank, he has held roles of increasing responsibility in leading banks in Turkey including Yapi ve Kredi Bankasi, Interbank and Disbank. He became the Chief Executive Officer and Board Member of  Fortis Bank (Turkey) in 2005, after its acquisition of majority shares of Disbank and later appointed as Chairman of the Bank. He returned to Yapi ve Kredi Bankasi as the Chief Executive Officer in 2007; was appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2009 and also assumed the position as President of Banking and Insurance Group at Koc Holding, the leading Turkish conglomerate in Turkey until 2011. Mr. Bayazit is currently Independent Board Member in leading Turkish companies: Doğan Holding, Migros and TAV and he is the Chairman of Marsh & McLennan Turkey and board member of Marsh Italy. He is also currently Vice Chairman of Turkish Industry and Business Association (TUSIAD).
