Cookies

Cookies are small text files that are sent to your electronic device (PC, tablet, etc.) when browsing a website. Cookies are then sent back to the original website during the next browsing session, or are sent to a different website that can recognise that specific cookie. Cookies act as a memory for a website, allowing the website to recognise your device at each subsequent visit to that same website.

Cookies also make it possible to save your browsing preferences, offering you a more functional experience of the website, making the website contents as customised as possible. Cookies can be used by both the owner of this website and third parties.

You can find more information about cookies, including how you can understand what cookies have set on your device and how they can be managed and eliminated, by accessing the following link: www.allaboutcookies.org.

Types of cookies used by this website

This website uses technical cookies (falling into the category of "first party cookies"), anonymised third party analytical cookies and does not use cookies that require the user's consent.

Technical cookies are those used purely in order to make a communication on an electronic communication network or to send the supplier information that is strictly necessary to Mediobanca to provide a service specifically requested by the user.

They are normally installed at the time of access to the website directly by the Controller or website manager. They can be divided up into:

  • Browsing or session cookies: guarantee normal browsing and use of the website; they are, in fact, necessary to the correct website function.

  • Analytics cookies: these are similar to technical cookies, where used directly by the website manager to collect information in aggregated form, on the number of users and on how they visit the website, in order to improve website performance.
  • Function cookies: enable the user to browse according to a series of selected criteria (e.g. language, products selected for purchase, etc.) in order to improve the service provided.

Cookie duration

Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or a logout command executed. Other cookies “survive” browser closure and are also available at subsequent user visits. These cookies are called “persistent” and their duration is set by the server when they are created. In some cases, an expiry date is set, in others, duration is unlimited.

Processing method

Processing is carried out using automated tools of the Controller. The Bank also discloses personal data where considered necessary in order to fulfil specific obligations for which consent is not required.

Dark Mode

Dark mode is a setting that alters the colour palette of a website’s interface to enable its contents (text and images) to be viewed using only dark background and light foreground colours in order to enhance the contrast.

Dark mode is also good for the environment, as it allows substantial energy savings to be made: tests on various mobile devices with screen brightness set at 30-50% have shown that the energy saving using dark mode is around 3-9%, which rises exponentially when screen brightness is set at 100%, generating energy savings of 47%.
