Nazca Capital & Seaya Ventures acquisition of a majority stake in Filmin

On November 30th, 2020, Nazca Capital and Seaya Ventures announced the acquisition of a majority stake in Filmin (the “Transaction”) for a undisclosed consideration.

Founded in 2007, Filmin is the VOD (Video on Demand) leading platform in Spain and Portugal on European independent content (mainly movies, series and documentaries).

The Company was the first platform to offer a subscription-based model in Spain and the promoter of the first online film festival (Atlàntida Film Fest). Filmin currently offers a catalogue of over 15,000 titles to 200,000 subscribers. The Company expects to close 2020 with €15m of Revenue.

Filmin aims to continue consolidating its position in Spain and Portugal and further expand operations internationally. Nazca Capital, a leading Spanish Mid-Market Private Equity with €900m of AuM, brings Filmin its experience in developing growth projects as well as its knowledge in subscription-based models. Seaya Ventures, the leading Spanish Venture Capital with €250m of AuM, will invest alongside Nazca and will contribute its experience in technology and in fast-growing international expansion projects.

Both Nazca and Seaya will join Filmin as majority shareholders replacing French content distributor Metropolitan Filmexport and Spanish content producer Vértigo Films.

The existing Management Team will continue leading the project and has reinvested in the business.
