Mediobanca Research Department presents the 2019 edition of the composition of the Boards of companies based in Italy and listed on the MTA

Women occupy 34.4% of the total positions, but this reduces considerably for the most senior positions; just 8.1% of positions as CEO are occupied by women, and only 10.7% of the Boards of Directors have female chairs. The Mediobanca Research Area’s analysis of the composition of the Boards of companies based in Italy and listed on the MTA also shows that men receive total compensation on average four times higher than that of women, and the wage gap is most keenly felt in positions with executive powers; when it comes to posts on supervisory bodies, women appear to earn more on average than men. At year-end 2018, the directors, general managers and statutory auditors analysed had taken home aggregate compensation totalling €605.5m, the fixed component of which accounted for 54.9%
