Mediobanca Becomes Supporter of Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures Recommendations

Mediobanca has adhered to the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) recommendations. The choice to become a TCFD supporter reflects our commitment to transparency of disclosure regarding our impact on the environment, consistent with the roadmap we have undertaken in the fight against climate change, including by reducing our own direct and indirect carbon emissions.
Created by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) – the international body that monitors the global financial system – in December 2015, the TCFD issues recommendations to develop more effective climate-related disclosures, to enable stakeholders to have a better understanding of activities related to carbon emissions in the financial sector and the financial system’s exposure to climate-related risks.
“Climate change is a financial risk for the global economy”, said Mediobanca CEO Alberto Nagel. “Financial markets need clear, exhaustive, and quality disclosures on the impacts of climate change. Our decision to voluntarily become supporters of the TCFD recommendations is consistent with the ESG objectives integrated into our 2019-23 strategic plan in order to create long-term value for all our stakeholders.”
